Alex specialises in the control of noise from data centres and the assessment of vibration within microchip manufacturing facilities. He also creates intricate noise models for mechanical services plant serving the places we visit every day, from fast-food restaurants and supermarkets to commercial and industrial developments. Alex has a particular interest in using emerging technology and machine learning to improve efficiency and accuracy within the field of acoustics.

After graduating from Anglia Ruskin University with a Bachelor of Arts degree, Alex decided to follow in his dad’s footsteps and pursue a career in acoustics. Having discovered that a career in the arts might not provide quite the mental stimulation he was looking for, he found that the combination of science, engineering and problem-solving offered by acoustics was a much better fit.
Alex holds the Institute of Acoustics Diploma in Acoustics and Noise Control, completed at the University of Derby, and is an Associate Member of the Institute of Acoustics.
His introduction to the industry came at just eight years old, when he agreed to accompany his dad on an attended noise survey in exchange for a burger and fries from a nearby fast-food restaurant. What started as an opportunity for a free meal soon developed into a genuine interest in acoustics. By the age of 14, with a little guidance from the team, Alex had created his first noise model.
Alex officially joined Sharps Redmore in 2021, at the age of 20, and has since developed experience across environmental acoustics, building acoustics and vibration assessment. His work has taken him from everyday commercial developments to complex industrial and high-technology facilities, where he continues to develop his technical expertise and keep pace with evolving industry standards.
