Andy joined the Northern contingent of Sharps Redmore in 2017 after completing the IOA Diploma and cutting his teeth at an acoustic consultancy in the north-east then a multi-disciplinary in Leeds – both different but valued experiences.
The primary focus of Andy’s work tends to be building and architectural acoustics, though he also demonstrates extensive experience in planning, external plant, internal building services and performance spaces. Past projects cover all the major sectors including residential, education, healthcare, offices, R&D, courts/justice, defence, leisure and retail. Andy has also provided acoustic advice for numerous projects looking to achieve sustainability credits such as BREEAM.
Project experience comprises numerous universities and schools, hotels and residential, offices, secure and sensitive developments, hospitals/medical centres, and specialist research facilities. Bowling alleys and gyms have been notable specialties over the last five years.
Professional aspirations for the future would be to assist with projects offering sustainable and circular solutions for future generations and the planet.
Prior to life as an acoustician Andy worked in education providing technical support for the performing arts and music. His favourite job was building timber yachts, not just due to fish and chips on Fridays, but being able to witness such exquisite skill and craftsmanship was a privilege.
Beyond acoustics Andy has had a diverse range of interests over the years and the one that prevails is playing the piano. One day he aims to sail around the world with his family but, for now, is more than entertained by his young boys discovering the world.
