Gary has been a Director at Sharps Redmore since 2021. Gary specialises in Environmental Acoustics and has provided acoustic advice on a wide variety of projects including sporting/leisure, commercial /industrial and residential developments.

Gary’s first interest in acoustics was as an Environmental Health Officer, where he worked he specialised in pollution matters, which included investigating complaints of statutory noise nuisance. It was the ability to problem solve and help people disturbed by noise, which led to a move Sharps Redmore after 17 years in Local Government.

Sharps Redmore shared Gary’s principles in providing high quality advice to help solve problems and since joining in 2007 has progressed to become an Associate and then Director. The experience of working on ‘both sides of the fence’ gives Gary an unique overview of understanding the impact of noise on people’s lives. This skill is now used to the benefit of Clients to assist with planning applications, complaints of noise disturbance/statutory, and licensing issues. Gary has extensive expert witness experience at planning appeals, licensing hearings and other court work.

Outside of work Gary is a keen sports fan, however as years have passed this is more watching than participating. Spending time running around his young family to various activities, he looks into the garage full of bikes, motorbikes and other sporting equipment waiting for the time when he will have his weekends back.

Likes: Ipswich Town Football Club, cricket and enjoying a cold beer in a beer garden on a warm summers evening.
Dislikes: People who stand too close behind you in a queue and community facebook pages where people ask what time the local supermarket is open!
