Keith specialises in environmental acoustics, with particular expertise in relation to retail development. He is an experienced Expert Witness, having provided evidence for numerous Public Inquiries and Hearings.

Keith Metcalfe started his career in acoustic consultancy with Sharps Redmore in the mid-1990s, before joining Arup Acoustics.
During his seven years at Arup Acoustics, Keith spent the majority of his time on secondment to Rail Link Engineering, the project managers to the Channel Tunnel Rail Link project, working within the in-house acoustics team. He gained significant experience in the assessment of, and control of, noise from construction activity.
In 2004 Keith re-joined Sharps Redmore as a consultant and was appointed as a Director in January 2016.

Keith has worked on a wide range of environmental acoustic projects from small residential schemes to large mixed-use developments. He has significant experience in planning noise issues, noise nuisance, complaint resolution, and construction noise assessment. Keith has developed a particular interest in the assessment of noise associated with retail development and has worked with most of the UK’s leading food retailers. His project experience ranges from small scale convenience retail provision, to large superstore development and food warehouse distribution centres.

He regularly provides acoustic consultancy in the form of technical reports to accompany planning applications and in the provision of expert witness skills to Planning Appeals and Public Inquiries.
