Acoustics is in Rory’s DNA. Fascinated with acoustics since university whilst making rubbish music, to being intrigued by what was possible at the Acoustic Research Unit at Liverpool University; Rory gained a PhD in building acoustics in 1994 and joined Sharps Redmore as a graduate.

Rory’s experience has extended across a strange mix of jobs from dishwasher to student quantity surveying on a road bypass, to a degree in Building Management & Technology, building a water tower in the Rift Valley in Kenya, to a site engineer.

Surprising, he settled in at Sharps Redmore for 10 years. His skillset expanded again with 2 years in Sydney at Hyder Consulting under Bob Fitzell, working on the projects including the Sydney Opera House to WestPac Bank tower. Returning to Sharps Redmore with an expanded family, Rory has hung around to end up as Managing Director.
