Tenpin Sheffield

This was a challenging site acoustically due to the government offices on the first floor above which included a medical centre, an existing Premier Inn which is directly adjacent to the bowling demise, and residential apartments in a further attached building. These adjacencies would prove a challenge for the design elements of the bowl fit out.

An initial meeting on site allowed us to provide outline advice to the client with regards to suitability of the site and particular locations within the demise for each proposed activity (bowling, games, karaoke rooms etc.).

Testing of the building was undertaken from the proposed bowl unit to the offices above, to the Premier Inn and to the apartments. This allowed the precise consideration of the existing structure and subsequent areas to focus on, including the need to isolate the bowling lanes and pinsetter machinery from the structure, and to control airborne noise transmission.

During the fit out works, site inspections were undertaken to check that the relevant acoustic work was being carried out correctly. Prior to opening to the public, extensive testing of the building was done to demonstrate that the onerous acoustic requirements were met. The results of these were discussed with the Planning Department of Sheffield City Council and advisors to the Landlord of the bowl demises that the final commissioning report provided the information required to satisfy their requirements.
