Building Services Noise & Vibration
We provide advice for building services / mechanical services noise control and vibration based on a long history of assessments in the field, labs and factories. We have particular expertise with fan and air regenerated noise sources, chiller / ASHPs, plant on industrial, commercial and domestic systems. This experience means that the Sharps Redmore consultancy team can offer quality, practical advice to the manufacturer or mechanical services contractor based on successful problem-solving over many years and working with noise control contractors, with some staff historically from manufacturing.
SoundPLAN™ acoustic modelling is also used, particularly on large systems, such as data centres with multiple chillers for which Sharps Redmore have been assessing projects across UK and in parts of Europe since the mid 1990s.
Our advice covers both atmospheric-side and room-side issues, attenuator insertion loss scheduling, reviewing of ductwork systems, cross-talk and noise breakout issues, acoustic louvres, plenums, screens, grilles etc. In studio, TV and theatre environments, air velocities can become important and the selection of grilles and diffusers, dampers and duct design all need careful assessment.
We provide assessments for BS 4142 compliance setting appropriate criteria, and developing noise control solutions with suppliers.
We will provide design criteria for noise and vibration control in many environments from public, commercial, academic and high sensitivity spaces, with bespoke criteria where needed.
We undertake building service noise and vibration commissioning, investigative and witness testing, and evaluate manufacturer test data.
